Beware of fraudsters - Justice Ministry
The Justice Ministry yesterday warned people to beware of fraudsters
who try to extort money from job seekers by promising jobs at the
ministry. Ministry's Secretary Kamalini F de Silva said that there is
information that certain racketeers are fleecing job seekers by
promising jobs at the Justice Ministry.
There had been reports that a woman resident in Ukuwela and three
others in Tangalle had been induced by these fraudsters to part with
nearly Rs. 100,000 promising appointments to Grade 3 Management
Assistant posts at the Justice Ministry.
These fraudsters are reported to have engaged in regular telephone
conversations with the gullible victims and even sent them letters
summoning them for non-existent interviews by forging the ministry
franks.
The release reiterated that no new appointments are given to the
ministry without a systematic interview process. Moreover the purported
appointments to the Grade 3 Management Assistants' service are given by
the Public Administration Ministry and not by the Justice Ministry.
