Passport fees for minors reduced

Fees and validity period for new passports obtained by children below
16 years of age has been revised by the Immigration and Emigration
Department.
The validity period of a passport for children below 16 has been
reduced from10 years to 3 years. The fees charged for issuance of a
passport to all countries within a day has been reduced from Rs.7,500
to Rs.3,500. Passport fees for normal service to all countries has come
down to Rs.1500.
"The passport fees to Middle East countries for same day service for
minors has been reduced to Rs.1,500 and the normal service to Rs.1,000.
The above will take effect from September 1," Department sources said.
