Protest banned near Munneswaran temple

On a request made to court by the Chilaw HQI Inspector Manoj
Ranagala, the Chilaw Chief Magistrate Jagath A. Kahandagamage delivered
an order yesterday not to hold any protests or stage any satyagraha in
the vicinity or in the temple premises of Shri Badra Kali Amman temple,
Munnesweram, Chilaw on September 1 and thereabouts and at the concluding
Mangala celebration on September 2.
Those who violate this order will be liable to criminal charges and
brought to court and remanded for breaking the peace, harmony and
religious fervour prevailing in the sacred area. This order is directed
against those who take part in acts of violence, and those who attempt
to destabilise the normal day to day
lives of the people and not allowing to maintain proper law and
order. A peaceful environment should be created for the devotees who
assemble to perform their religious observances at the temple, it was
further stated.
