Kasun Gunawardhana shines at CA SL Strategic Level exam
Twenty-three year old Kasun Gunawardhana of Ibbagamuwa has emerged as
the prize winner of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri
Lanka's (CA Sri Lanka) Strategic Level I exam for Strategic Management
Accounting held in June this year.
Gunawardhana who was ranked the islands first in the commerce stream
in the 2008 GCE Advanced Level exam is also an undergraduate of the
University of Sri Jayewardenapura following the B.Sc Management
(Accountancy special) degree programme.

A former student of Ibbagamuwa Central College, Gunawardhana was
recognized as the best student of the school in 2008 and was also the
head prefect in 2008/2009 while also excelling in numerous
extra-curricular activities apart from his academic achievements while
in school.
"I decided to join the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri
Lanka, because it has for many years excelled in providing the best
accountancy education in the country which is also globally recognized.
In today's competition, I believe it is important to have both
professional and academic education which is recognized not only in our
country but also abroad, this is why I joined CA Sri Lanka," he said.
He praised the curriculum offered at the Institute as it did not only
restrict to accountancy but also cover other important areas including
business, management, IT while also helping students improve on their
English language skills which are a requirement in today_s business
world.
CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse, while congratulating the
student on his achievement, emphasized that the Institute has always
been a hot spot for an impressive number of high achievers both from the
commerce and non-commerce streams.
"We need more students like Kasun, because they set such high
standards which are a requirement nowadays to survive in the present
competitive business world. I congratulate him and wish him all the best
for his future endeavors," Rajapakse said.
Chief Executive officer of CA Sri Lanka, Aruna Alwis noted that the
Institute will continue to provide its students, who are among its
primary stakeholders, the best of facilities as well as qualifications,
both local and foreign.
"We have dedicated centres in our Institute for the betterment of our
students_ knowledge in IT and English. Also, within the next few months,
work on our new building will complete and students will benefit from
some of the best infrastructure study facilities available anywhere in
Colombo," Alwis added.
