FITIS to host Regional ICT Summit in Colombo
ASOCIO (Asian-Oceanside Computing Industry Organization)
headquartered in Tokyo Japan will host it's 2012 annual ICT summit and
conference in Colombo Hilton and the Federation for Information
Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), the organization representing Sri
Lanka in ASOCIO, will be the host of the event.

ASOCIO is a regional IT industry association that expands beyond
SAARC and ASEAN regions comprising member economies such as Japan,
India, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Thailand, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh, Thailand and Singapore
and guest members from Europe and Americas, established in 1984 with
objectives of promoting relationships and trade between its members, and
developing the ICT industry in the region.
"FITIS believes it an honor to the Sri Lankan ICT industry, to host
ASOCIO-2012 ICT summit in the current growing economic environment. In
the last two years, the ICT industry in Sri Lanka has picked up
dramatically and this year's ASOCIO-2012 summit and conference will
provide a good platform for all FITIS member companies and the industry
as whole to interact with world IT leaders and for a healthy exchange of
ideas as well as a networking place for business opportunities through
no of activities stored at the meeting" said Udaya De Silva, Hon
Secretary and FITIS' Sri Lanka representative for ASOCIO.
The Sri Lankan business leaders will get the opportunity of entering
into business relationships and building linkages with the planned
business matchmaking session which is a part of the programme.
Speaking about the objectives of hosting the event, De Silva said,
"Playing a key role in the regional ICT industry development by forming
a platform to synergize and harness the knowledge among the countries,
this conference will certainly be strength to the vision of the
government of making Sri Lanka the Knowledge Hub of Asia.
Also will boost trade and investment opportunities and to get the
expected high visibility to the country towards achieving the US $ 1
billion export market."
FITIS the unified ICT industry body Established in 1996, comprising
trade and professional bodies representing all segments of the ICT
industry continues to contribute to the growth of the economy through
many such activities it conducts from time to time.
