Electricity development in the forefront

A record progress is being achieved in electricity development in the North Central Province.

Under the lighting Rajarata programme, 101 rural electrification schemes in the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts have been completed at a cost of Rs 1,040 million.

Meanwhile, 67 schemes have been completed at a cost of Rs 800 million under the Anuradhapura district CEB's accelerated electrification programme. About 34 rural electrification projects have been commissioned at a cost of Rs 350 million in Polonnaruwa. Under 'Sida' programme (Swedish funds), 28 rural electrification schemes in the two districts were implemented spending Rs 330 million.
