Progress review meeting on HIV, TB and Malaria

A progress review meeting of the project of Enhancing Control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the Northern Province was held in Jaffna on Tuesday. Provincial Chief Secretary R Wijialudchumi chaired the meeting on behalf of the Governor.

This project is implemented by the Health Ministry with the support of the Global Fund organization. The project is to strengthen community based primary health care workforce in the province and to refurbish primary health care infrastructure to deliver basic services for control of the three target diseases.

The phase one of the project commenced in July 2011, will be completed in June 2013 at a cost of US$13 million. The second phase will commence in July 2013 and end in June 2015. Health Ministry Secretary R Raveenthiran and Portfolio Manager of Global Fund Manad were also present at the meeting.
