Defence and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa
assured all assistance to beautify the Batticaloa town. He said
Batticaloa is a good destination for local and foreign visitors. The
town should be well maintained to attract outsiders.
The Defence Secretary was addressing a meeting in the Batticaloa
Municipality Auditorium on Tuesday.
Historic sites in the district have to be preserved and the UDA will
assist in this regard, he said.
The ministry has spent for the development of the Batticaloa
District. Some programmes have been completed and some other are in
progress.
Petroleum Industries Minister and UPFA General Secretary Susil
Premajayantha, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Deputy
Resettlement Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, Child Development
and Women's Affairs Deputy Minister M L A M Hizbullah, Batticaloa
Government Agent P. S. M. Charls and Mayor Sivageetha Prabagaran also
participated.
