Bellanwila Perahera, optional routes for motorists

The following roads will be closed due to Bellanwila Esala Perahera held from today until Saturday ,the Police Public Relations Unit announced. Today from 9.30 pm, the ' Pawada ' pageant will start at 9.30pm and will proceed until 12 midnight. Bus route no 119- Maharagama -Dehiwala and road between Boralesgamuwa to Bellanwila intersection will be closed during perahera.

Motorists are advised to use optional routes as follows: Vehicles travelling from Maharagama, Piliyandala, Colombo to Dehiwala should proceed to Pepiliyana junction and turn left to Nadimala. Vehicles from Ratmalana and Dehiwala should travel via Papiliyana to Colombo or Borelesgamuwa. Friday the Raseewali pageant will start at 9pm and finish at 1am the next day. Roads will be closed during the perahera time at Boralesgamuwa intercection, Pepiliyana Vihara Mawatha junction near Bellantara traffic lights. Vehicles from Maharagama, Piliyandala to Dehiwala should proceed to Pepiliyana round-about and turn left to Nadimala to go to Dehiwala and Ratmalana.

Vehicles from the opposite direction travelling to Boralesgamuwa can travel via Pepiliyana junction. On Saturday, the Randoli Maha Perahera will starts at 9pm and go on until 2am the next day. It will parade through Bellanwila, Bellanttara, Nedimala, Pepiliyana Vihara Mawatha. The Boralesgamuwa intersection , Attidiya bridge, Nedimala, Pepiliyana junction near the Bo Tree will be closed during the perahera hours. Vehicles travelling from Maharagama and Piliyandala to Dehiwala should go to Kohuwala intersection and proceed to Galle road.

Vehicles from the opposite direction should go to Nugegoda via Kohuwala by turning at the junction near Williams Grinding Mills at Galle road.
