Midnight’s Children to premier in Toronto

Academy Award Nominated Indian film-maker Deepa Mehta’s latest film Midnight’s Children shot in 651 locations in Sri Lanka will premiere at the 37th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Canada. It was filmed in many significant places in the island including Wesley College, S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, St Joseph’s College, The Royal Colombo Golf Club, The Mayors House, Ayurveda Hospital, Maradana Station,

Elphinstone Theatre, Grandpass Nursing Home, Old Town Hall, General Hospital, Galle Face Hotel and features victory parades in the streets of Colombo covering Pettah and Fort. Reputed film production company in Sri Lanka, The Film Team, headed by Ravindra Randeniya, Errol Kelly, Ainsley de Silva and Gopi Darmaratnam handled executive supervision, production design consulting, set building and budget planning.

They have been invited by Midnight’s Children producer David Hamilton to attend the gala opening of the movie in TIFF. Midnight’s Children is based on Salman Rushdie’s Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name.
