Old Bens host 46th Battle of the Saints Tournament

The annual quadrangular cricket and basket ball tournament (below and over 40s) will be held on August 25 and 26, which will be hosted this year by the Old Benedictines Sports Club.

The Four Catholic Schools namely St. Anthony's College, Katugastota, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's and St. Benedict's will participate in the tournament. Over the past 45 years each college had taken turns to host this tournament whereby the up and coming young lads in these schools are encouraged and given a boost to take to cricket as their future profession.

The team spirit and brotherhood of the old and young boys of these respective schools had grown from strength to strength and this is showcased at all inter-school matches conducted, where the true spirit of sports prevails since the quadrangular tournament commenced.

The opening ceremony will be on August 25 at 8.00 a.m. at St. Benedict's College Grounds - Col. 13, followed by the first match of the tournament where the Old Bens will meet Old Joes (over 40) side.

The Chief Guest on this occasion will be Mr. Rohan Wanaguru who captained College 1st XI Cricket Team in 1975 and later coached the College Senior Cricket Pool for a number of years.
