Army rout CR 52/13

The Sri Lanka Army SC gave a dazzling display of rugby against CR and
FC to emerge victorious by 52 points ( six goals, two tries) to 13
points (agoal and two penalties) in the second round match of the Dialog
Rugby ‘A’ division league tournament played at Longden Place yesterday.
Army SC opened scoring with a try by Number Eight Savanaca Tukitoga
in the third minute while Upali Wickramasinghe converted it( Army 7 -0
).
Four minutes later Army's Steve Kunaga scored an unconverted try.In
the 10 th minute Madusanka Chandrasekara touched down for Army to make
it 17-0
Again Savanaka Tukitoga breached the opponents defence to score
and.Upali Wickramasinghe added the extra points.(Army 24-0).
CR opened scoring with a penalty by Mushin Faleel in the 20th minute
which helped to reduce the deficit(Army 24 – 3).However the Red shirts
couldn't pose much threat to their opponents due to their poor
performances.
In the 25 th minuteArmy's Full Back Salinda Ekanayake scored a try
which was converted by Wickramasinghe(Army 31 – 3).
And Kunaga Steve contributed with another try where Wickramasinghe
added the extra points to make it 38 – 3.Mushin Faleel fired across
another penalty in the 35th minute, and it was the only consolation for
CR.
The scores read 38 – 6 at lemons.
In the second half, CR earned a goal with a help of a try by flanker
Chilanka Samaraweera while Mushin Faleel added the extra points.
Army added to their tally with two more tries by Winger Saliya
Handapangoda(one) and Flanker Mohamed Akram(one) both of which were
converted by Upali Wickramasinghe to give Army a runaway 52 – 13 win.
