The Wariyapola Police arrested a suspect wanted in connection with two burglaries carried out in Wellawa and Kurunegala and seized stolen gold jewellery worth more than Rs 450,000 from his possession.

Police media spokesman Ajith Rohana said that the suspect was found to be a lance corporal in the Army. The suspect, a resident of Padeniya had broken into two houses in the same area to steal gold jewellery. He was produced before Wariyapola magistrate and remanded.
