Two drowned

Two people drowned while bating in Kelani Ganga in Biyagama and in a river in Rakwana on Thursday. Biyagama Police have commenced a search operation to recover the body of 16 year old Mohommed Zuwahir who drowned in the Kelani Ganga in Malwana. The other person, 33 year old W T Dilshan Fernando of Katuneriya drowned while bathing in a river in Pothupitiya.

Body found in Mahaweli

Peradeniya Police found a body of an unidentified man floating in the Mahaweli Ganga on Wednesday. The 5'7" feet tall man with short hair was wearing a white T shirt and a blue denim. He is about 35-years-old.

Fire destroys 150 acres

Over 150 acres of forest was destroyed after a fire that broke out in the Somawathi Forest Reserve in Pulasthipura on Thursday afternoon. The Air Force, Army, Pulasthipura Police, Civil Defence Department personnel doused the fire with the assistance of persons from state and non government organizations.
