The Police yesterday reiterated that it would ensure maximum security
for medical officers.
Western Province Senior DIG, administration Gamini Navaratne in a
special press release issued via the Police Public Relations Media Unit
said the Police will expedite investigations into cases in respect of
security of medical officers.
The Senior DIG made these remarks during a discussion between senior
officers and Government Medical Officers’ Association members at the
Police Headquarters yesterday.
The discussion was held with regard to the overall security of
doctors in the wake of an incident where a hand grenade was found not
the house of a consultant.
GMOA secretary Dr Anurudda Padeniya, executive committee members, Dr
Nalin Ariyasena , Dr Prasad Ranaweera, Dr K H D Milroy and Dr Saman
Abeywardena participated.
A team of police higher rankers headed by Senior DIG , administration
Gamini Navaratne, Western Province Senior DIG Anura Senanayake, DIG
crimes Ravi Wijegunawardena, DIG legal Gamini Dissanayake and other
western province DIGs and division in charge officers discussed
significant aspects regarding doctors security at the meeting.
It was further revealed that a special investigation has been
commenced by the CID under the supervision of a Supirintendent of Police
over Thursday’s incident at Dehiwala.
The need to have direct communication process between the police and
the doctors in case of emergency was also stressed at the meeting. |
