Uva Wellassa University officials imposed a class suspension on 73
undergraduates temporarily. Students who behaved unlawfully at a protest
were suspended, a university spokesman said yesterday.
"Most are first year students. Among the students is a female. We
will conduct a preliminary disciplinary inquiry soon," he said.
"The situation at the university at the moment is peaceful. Suspended
students will not be allowed to enter the university premises," the
spokesman said.
The university was closed on August 10 and reopened on August 16
following student unrest.
Students protested urging officials to amend the examination
timetable. |
