President opens Rs 180m Thantirimale water scheme

President Mahinda Rajapaksa commissioned the Thantirimale water
supply scheme on Thursday.
The water plant constructed at a cost of Rs 180 million caters to the
Thantirimale Sacred City, surrounding villages and government
institutions.
The President simultaneously declared open the Sacred City water pond
and the Thantirimale Archaeological Museum.
The President visited the water purification plant accompanied by
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardane and other
distinguished visitors.
W S D B (NCP) Deputy General Manager L L A Peris explained the
President about the processing of water being pumped from Malwathuoya.
He said that the plant was capable of treating 1000 cubic meters of
water per day for distribution.
The religious rituals were performed by Maha Sangha headed by
Atamasthanadhipathi Ven Dr Pallegama Siriniwasa and Ruwanweli
Chetiyaramadhipathi Ven Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Theras. |
