Singer Asia committed to further expand operations in SL - Goodman

Stephen H. Goodman, Chairman of Singer Asia denied rumours that the company was for sale and said that “Singer Asia is committed to further expanding its operations and enhancing its product and service offerings” in the country. He also said that Sri Lanka is currently Singer Asia’s largest market and praised the management of Singer Sri Lanka. Goodman who was in Sri Lanka recently offered a buoyant assessment of Singer Sri Lanka’s prospects and future plans stating that while Singer Sri Lanka would be growing the business through traditional means, such as introducing new global brands and accelerating the expansion of retail outlets, particularly in the North and East of the country, it would also be exploring several exciting new prospects.

He discussed the possibility of Singer Finance unveiling a new range of services that would allow previously undeserved segments of the Sri Lankan population to benefit from innovative financial solutions. With over a hundred years of experience in providing financial services to people all over the world, Singer has accumulated the expertise needed to revolutionize the consumer finance landscape in Sri Lanka.

Goodman emphasized the importance of giving more Sri Lankans, including lower- and lower-middle class customers, access to the financial resources they need in order to secure and enhance their lifestyles. The Chairman of Singer Asia also spoke at length about the need to offer Sri Lankans more attractive shopping options. Elaborating on the company’s vision of providing a heretofore unseen range of shopping, lifestyle, and entertainment offerings in a single destination, Goodman hinted at several game-changing developments for Sri Lanka’s retail sector in the near future.

While lauding Singer Sri Lanka for building the country’s most extensive after-sales service network, Goodman also pointed to the possibility of expanding its service to accommodate individuals who had purchased products from outside Singer’s retail outlets. The company’s value proposition, which currently includes the widest selection of consumer durable brands and products as well as the largest retail network in the country, would be further enhanced by such a move. Goodman emphasized Singer Asia’s commitment to the country, pointing out that Singer Sri Lanka continuously operated a retail outlet in Jaffna throughout the country’s troubled times.
