Gurukula trounce Royalists

Jayamal Wanniarachchi with a fine bowling spell of 6 for 35 enabled Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya to trounce formidable Royal College, Colombo by six wickets in their inter-school Under 15 Division one second round first match conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and played at Kelaniya Campus grounds.

Batting first Royalists collapsed for a paltry 98 runs and Navin Vidanapathirane made 36 runs for the visitors, while Damitha Hasika too bagged 3 for 10.

In reply Gurukula notched up the required score with ease for the loss of four wickets with Damindu Themiya and Lahiru Chamara scoring 26 runs each.

Royal – 98 in 29.3 overs (Navin Vidanapathirana 36, Emesh Ramanayake 21, Jayamal Wanniarachchi 6/35, Damitha Hasika 3/11).

Gurukula – 99/4 in 33 overs (Dumindu Themiya 26, Kavinda Gayajith 18 n/o, Lahiru Chamara 26 n/o, Imesh Ramanayake 3/26).
