Army-handball champions

The Army Men’s handball team which won the title by beating Air Force 15-10.

The Army women’s team which won the women’s handball title by beating Navy by 40-31.

The Army Men's and Women's handball teams captured the championships at the 2012 inter-forces handball tournament recently held at the Sri Lanka Youth Indoor Stadium, Maharagama.

Three men's teams and three women's teams from Army, Navy and Air Force participated at the tourney. The tournament was conducted according to league system and from women's section Army and Air Force teams qualified for the finals.

At the women's finals Army team captured the championship title winning by 15 to 10.

The Men's finals was between Army and Navy and Army team won the championship by retaining 40 goals to 31 goals.

The 3rd place of the men's tournament was Air Force and women's was Navy.

The chief guest of the occasion was Rear Admiral A M J Perera and the guest of honour was Air Commodore D M S Karunaratne.
