4Motorcycles for public health officials

Over 12,000 state sector public health officials will get free motorcycles next year courtesy the Health Ministry.

The recipients will be family health midwives, public health inspectors and community health nurses. "There are over 12,000 workers in the above three categories and all will be eligible to receive free motorcycles," he said.

The move is expected to enhance the capacity of these officials in reaching out to the public in the course of their duties. This category, who provide direct health care services to the public, have to be in constant touch with the public," the spokesman said.

New NSB Chairman

Shirajiv Sirimane

Sunil S. Sirisena, will assumes duties today as the new National Savings Bank(NSB) Chairman at the NSB Head Office in Colombo 3.

Sirisena has also served as the Secretary to the Minister of Trader and Commerce and several other institutions. He was also former National Film Corporation Chairman.
