Jilted lover takes ‘prickly’ revenge

A teenage girl resident in Wenda, Kurunegala was admitted to the Mawathagama Hospital in an unconscious state when she was pricked with a syringe containing some poisonous substance by her jilted lover while she was bathing at a nearby well recently.

The girl was later transferred to the Kurunegala General Hospital in a critical condition.

The suspect lover, a 19-year-old youth, resident of the same village was later apprehended by Mawatahgama Police following a complaint lodged by the girl's parents.

The suspect produced before Pillessa acting magistrate Gamini Rajapaksa was remanded.

Investigations are continuing.
