Bellanwila Esala Perahera schedule change

Gilanpasa Buddha Poojas and Dhamma sermons will be held at the Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya today and tomorrow as part of commemorative religious ceremonies to mark the 28th death anniversary of Ven Bellanwila Sri Somaratana Nayaka Thera, the Chief Incumbent who opened a new chapter for Bellanwila Viharaya.

Ven Dr Medagoda Abhayatissa, the Chief Incumbent of Sunethradevi Pirivena and senior lecturer of Sri Jayawardenepura University will deliver the Dhamma sermon at 7.30pm today while Ven Beragama Amitha Nayaka Thera, Chief Incumbent of Piliyandala Wewela Gangarama temple will deliver the sermon tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the schedule of the Esala Perahera and religious ceremonies to be held at the Bellanwila temple have been changed as follows:

Sri Somaratana Commemorative Dhamma Sermons: August 11, Week-long Paritta chanting: August 12 -18, Kumbal Procession: August 18, Flower Procession: August 19 -22, Pavada procession: August 23, Ransivili Procession: August 24, Final Randoli Procession: August 25, Water cutting ceremony: August 26 at pre-noon.
