CPC to inspect oil consignments

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) yesterday decided to inspect oil consignments and issue quality assurance certificates at the laboratory of the CPC Storage Terminals Limited in Kolonnawa and laboratory at Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery before unloading and distributing them.

A Corporation spokesman said the oil samples will be thoroughly inspected at the two laboratories and quality assurance certificates issued before the petroleum products are unloaded and distributed.

The CPC will take measures to unload oil from ships and distribute among consumers after receiving the quality assurance certificate from the Kolonnawa and Sapugaskanda laboratories.

Oil samples are also to be inspected by officers in power station laboratories before using for power generation. A certificate for petroleum products should be issued as well.

This decision was taken by the CPC on the direction of Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha. A special Technical Committee comprising three chemistry experts have also been appointed.
