New sports complex for BRC

The four storied Centenary Sports Complex of the Burgher Recreation Club (BRC) was declared open by the BRC President Jayantha Paranathala on Thursday.

The new sports complex consists of two floors for the use of players, officials and clients which hire BRC's facilities while the second and third floors are intended to be used for corporate functions and as an auditorium which will help to raise the revenue of the club.

BRC President Jayantha Paranthala mentioned that they have spent approximately Rs 28 million on building the new four storied pavilion which has about 7000 square foot area.

"This is the biggest ever infrastructure project undertaken in the 116 years long history of the BRC" added Paranathala.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Upali Dharmadasa, SLC Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Colombo Municipal Council Mayor A.J.M.Muzammil, Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala, SLC's past presidents Jayantha Dharmadasa and Mohan De Silva,former MP Shafeek Rajabdeen, Billiarad Association President and DIG Sumith Edirisinghe, Holcim Manager Manilal Fernando and members of the club were also present.
