Police in smashing 31-14 win over Air Force

The Sri Lanka Police SC scored a smashing 31 points(three goals ,two
tries ) to 14 points ( two goals) win over Sri Lanka Air Force in their
last match of the first round of the Dialog ‘A’ division league played
at Police Park yesterday after leading 24 – nil at the breather.
The Policemen surged into the lead within the first five minutes when
former CR and FC and Sri Lanka skipper Dushanth Lewke powered his way to
score by the corner flag. The Policemen went ahead further with a try by
Centre Indika Bandara scored near the post Co-Centre Batiratu William
added the extra points to make it 12 – 0 .
In the mid way in the first half , the Policemen increased their lead
further when Centre Batiratu William crashed through a try under the
post which was converted by fly half Rokubiu Nasoni and Police led 19 –
0.
Just before half time, Police winger Hashan Gomes fell over an
unconverted try to make it 24 – nil at lemons. 10 minutes after
resumption, the Policemen went ahead further with another try by
Chathuranga Gallage which was converted by fly half Rokabiu Nasoni and
the Policemen were sitting pretty with a 31 – nil.
Then Airmen fought back with a try by fly half Oushanka Hapuarachchi
which was converted by centre Charith Seneviratne to reduce the deficit
( Air Force 7 – 31).
The Airmen added to their tally when Sri Lanka centre Charith
Seneviratne touched down for a superb try and added the extra points
himself to make it 31 – 14 in favour of Police at the final whistle
