Bodies found

Police found two bodies of men in Hatton and Mahawela on Thursday.

Acting on information received, the Hatton Police found a body of a man near a bus halt on a road near a tea estate. The man appeared to be of 65 years and 5'3" tall.

Hatton Police seek public support to ascertain his identity.

The other body was found in a bushy area in Welikanda, Kirioruwa in Mahawela on the same day. Police identified the victim as 30 year-old E S Thusitha Kumara of Kosgolla who was mentally retarded.

Mahawela Police are investigating.


Father hacked to death

An elderly person allegedly hacked with a chopper by his son succumbed to his injuries at Siyambalanduwa hospital on Wednesday.

Sixty two-year-old W V D Wilson of Ali Wanguwa, Siyambalanduwa died in the incident.

The suspect has fled the area after the incident.

Moneragala magistrate commenced the inquest while the postmortem was held yesterday.


Netted with heroin

A suspect was arrested by the Police anti-narcotics bureau with 25.100 grammes of heroin while he was transporting it in a three wheeler in Peliyagoda on Wednesday.

The suspect is further interrogated under detention.


Wanted suspects nabbed

Negombo Police divisional crime investigation branch arrested five suspect wanted in connection with eight crimes including burglaries carried out in Negombo on several occasions.

The Police also seized some of the stolen property including bicycle spare parts, exercise machines and gold jewellery.

The suspects were released on bail when produced before the Negombo magistrate.
