Forthcoming PC election:
DLP to support President
The Democratic Labour Party yesterday, expressed unreserved support
to the President and the government at the forthcoming Provincial
Council election.
According to party leader S. Sathiyenthira, the party working
committee has unanimously decided to extend its fullest support to the
President and the government at the forthcoming provincial election.
He said that the country was rapidly developing with the eradication
of terrorism and the people of all communities were enjoying the
dividends of peace.
The party, in a letter signed by Sathiyenthira, has informed its
decision to President Mahinda Rajapaksa too.
In its letter to the President, Sathiyenthira said that the
Democratic Labour Party would extend its fullest support to the
government at the upcoming Provincial Council election.
Sathiyenthira in his letter said that his party was ready to conduct
pocket meetings in the Eastern Province to ensure the government’s
victory.
He said that the Tamil National Alliance was inciting communalism in
the Northern Province. “It has done nothing for the people in the
Northern and Eastern provinces, he said.
