New power sets for SL Railways

Sri Lanka Railways will add five power sets imported from China to the railway fleet on August 6 under its programme to import 13 new power sets.

Accordingly, the new power sets will commence operations after inspection by Transport Minister Kumara Welgama and Sri Lanka Railways General Manager B.A.P. Ariyarathna. The total cost of the 13 power sets is Rs.13,642 million and it will be completed with Chinese government assistance.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Railways announced special trains for the annual feast at Thalawila St, Anne’s shrine will be deployed on August 4,5 and 6 for the convenience of devotees.
