Private bus 119, 163 stop work

Private bus operators of 119 and 163 routes struck work in protest against the extension of the 176 route to Dehiwela, which has resulted in a timetable clash and other operational problems, said Sri Lanka Private Bus Operators' Association (PBOA) president Gemunu Wijeratne.

Wijeratne said, the reason for the strike is that route No: 176 Karagampitiya-Dehiwela buses are parked at the Dehiwela terminal. Due to this decision of the transport authorities, there will be congestion at the Dehiwala bus stand, he said. The Sri Lanka Transport Board buses plying on routes 163 and 119 have also joined the strike, and it will continue until a suitable solution is provided, Wijeratne said.
