Thambili banned from Saman Devale poojas

Ratnapura Maha Saman Devale Basnayake Nilame Sunil Santha Weerasekera banned placing king coconut (thambili) in the trays of flowers offered by devotees who come for poojas to the devalaya.

He said a large number of devotees are expected to visit the devalaya this year for the Devale Perahera.

The offering of Thambili along with other fruits has become a problem.

The cut king coconut empties are heaped with the garbage and with the present rainy season.

They will get filled with rain water which will become a suitable place for mosquito breeding. Therefore, he has instructed the devotees not to bring Thambili as offering.

He has advised the stall owners not to keep Thambili in the offering baskets. Instead add more fruits to the same price.
