The captains revealed at SLPL

The Sri Lanka Premier league which is going to commence its inaugural edition on August 11 held its second official press conference yesterday at the Cinnamon Grand hotel,Colombo and revealed its global brand partners to the media. Global brodacsting giants like ESPN have signed contracts with the SLPL for its exclusive broadcast distribution in India thus touching cricket’s largest market.

Nishantha Ranathunga speaking at the Press conference commented on the fact that many talented cricketers from rural areas will be inspired by this innovative concept.

The team captains were also revealed officially to the media.The team captains are as follows.

Basnahira Cricket Dundees – T.M Dilshan
Kandurata Warriors – Kumar Sangakkara
Nagenahira Nagas – Angelo Mathews
Ruhuna Royals – Lasith Malinga
Uthura Rudras – Jehan Mubarak
Wayamba United – Mahela Jayawardena
Uva Next – Captain to be announced later

The Uva Next team had not still named a captain despite having the blistering Chris Gayle as their icon player. The Uthura Rudras have named Jehan Mubarak although their icon player is Muthiah Muralitharan.

The match schedules were also revealed to the media and the matches will be only played in Pallekelle grounds Kandy and R. Premadasa grounds Colombo.
