Army deserters to be delisted
The Sri Lanka Army has taken measures to delist
and delete the names of Army deserters, Army Commander Lt Gen Jagath
Jayasuriya said yesterday.The Army Commander was participating in
the first anniversary of Abimansala, the wellness resort for Army
disabled personnel at Anuradhapura.

Navy arrests six with cannabis
Naval troops attached to the North-Western Naval
Command arrested six persons involved in smuggling cannabis and
flavoured chewing tobacco in Mannar on July 26. Among the arrested
persons two are Indians and the rest Sri Lankan accomplices.

False documents to obtain visa: woman enlarged on bail
A woman taken into custody for allegedly
submitting false documents to obtain a US visa was produced before
Colombo chief magistrate Rashmi Singappuli yesterday. The magistrate
ordered the suspect, a mother of two, to be enlarged on a Rs one
million personal bail with four government servants as sureties.
