Man who posed off as Julampitiye Amare arrested

A suspect who posed as 'Julampitiye Amare' and demanded a Rs 500,000 ransom from a businessman in Walasmulla was arrested by Tangalle division Crime Investigation Branch yesterday.

Following a complaint lodged by the businessman, Police decoys acting as relatives of the businessman struck a deal with the man who demanded the ransom and brought the amount down to Rs 100,000.
