More raids on treasure hunters

The Special Police Unit attached to the Archaeological Department arrested 452 suspects who damaged archaeological sites and plundered artefacts during the last six months.

They were fined Rs 11.4 million on being produced before court. During 2011, 498 suspects were arrested by the unit. Rs 20.6 million was recovered from as fines.
