Awareness on child protection

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) will launch an awareness programme on child abuse and child protection in schools islandwide beginning next month. NCPA chairperson Anoma Dissanayake said school media units will be used to educate the school community on child abuse. School child protection committees formed at school level will be strengthened and their roles regularized.

Accordingly,1,200 school child protection committees will be streamlined in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts, the Kurunegala Zonal Education Director said.
