The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission yesterday asked education
authorities to get the Attorney General's (AG) advice to address the
social impact to students by the Z-score issue.
The Commission's Secretary Samadhi Jayamanna Paranagama yesterday
told the Daily News they instructed education authorities, including
officials at the Higher Education Ministry and the University Grants
Commission at a meeting to meet the AG for his advice.
She said the meeting was held considering some 800 petitions received
by the Commission from students.
The education authorities told the Human Rights Commission they would
comply with the court ruling to annul the results of the GCE Advanced
Level examination 2011. The Commission pointed out there had been a
social impact caused by the situation and steps had to be taken to
address it, Paranagama said. "We called for a meeting as there were 800
petitioners affected by the situation," she added. |
