Trawler nabbed with 41 bound for Australia

The Navy yesterday nabbed a trawler with 41 on board in the seas off Trincomalee while attempting to flee to Australia.

The Navy intercepted the multi-day trawler heading for Australia in the deep seas off Trincomalee. The trawler was brought to the Trincomalee harbour. Among the 41 on board the trawler were 31 men, five women and five children.

Among the children were two boys and three girls. One was an infant. The trawler named Mihiru Putha I was detected by two Fast Naval Patrol Craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command.
