President instructs Local Government authorities:
Use powers to provide better service to public
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday instructed
Local Government authorities to use powers vested on them to provide
a better service to the public in coordination with stakeholders. He
asked them to work with understanding and cooperation with District
Development Committees,

18 independent groups, one party, place deposits
The Elections Secretariat yesterday said 18
independent groups and one party have made deposits for the upcoming
elections for the three Provincial Councils. Elections Secretariat
sources said the highest number of deposits were by independent
parties in the Eastern Province.
