Ice rain in Bandarawela

Residents in Bandarawela and Madolseema experienced an ice rain around 2.30pm yesterday followed by thundershowers. The Meteorology Department said the ice particles were small and were not unusual.

Bandarawela experienced the same phenomenon earlier as well, he said. Meteorologist Merril Mendis said this could occur during thundershowers following warm weather for a long period.
