Kite Surfing race in Kalpitiya

An exciting weekend of activities will be held in Kalpitiya as preparations are in full swing for Sri Lanka's first ever Redbull Kite surfing race scheduled to be held today and tomorrow.

This morning guests and visitors can enjoy watching the exciting Kite surf race. On Sunday morning there will be an array of Kite surfing stunt exhibitions on the beautiful wide beaches stretching across Divyaa Lagoon Resort.Local kite surfers from around the country as well from all parts of the world will gather in this sought after tourism destination to witness the speed and skill levels of these kite surfers.

The race involves kite surfers hopping from one island to the other off the North Western Puttalam Peninsular during the race and then making their way towards the ultra flat Kalpitiya Lagoon in front of the sand bank opposite the Divyaa Lagoon Resort.Red Bull Island Hopping is the first ever Kitesurfing race to be held in Sri Lanka, an event soon to be on the global calendar of adventure sports competitions.
