Esri Inc, the world's market leader in Geographic Information System
(GIS), announced the appointment of GIS Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., the
exclusive authorized distributor for Esri products.
Esri is the market leader in GIS technology, where its software is
used in more than 300,000 organizations worldwide, providing people with
the power to think and plan geographically. Esri GIS products are widely
being used for world's mapping and spatial analysis. It is the only

ideal platform for information sharing, discovery, access and use. The
Sri Lankan government is investing millions of money for infrastructure
development and also to support an exploding economy. GIS technology can
be used in government, education and commercial industries productively.
Today, many government and commercial organizations who are concerned
about the costs of hardware and networking, could use cloud services to
deliver GIS, both to the public and within their organization, which
means that they pay only for storage and processing facilities they need
day to day, leaving the hard work for highly qualified infrastructure
personnel. Mike Quin is managers the Asia Pacific Strategic Business
Development of Esri.
GIS Solutions Limited, plans to market the ArcGIS product line in Sri
Lanka to a growing market. "Among our local customers are different
government agencies, local government authorities, Survey and Mapping,
Environment and Forestry, Disaster Management, Urban Development, Land

Boards, such as Water, Electricity and Telecommunications and
Universities and Educational Institutions who need specialized know-how
we would be able to provide." Kavinda Mahawedage - Head of Marketing for
the Group.
"Esri software is recognized as a revolutionary product that provides
unique services to the market in today's technology driven world. With
Esri, financial institutions such as banks could preview a property and
its location, amenities available and accessibility, etc., before giving
out a loan against the property.
"The application of our software portfolio enhances the potential of
leading sectors in the economy. "GIS technology enables the real time
management of geographical data and empowers institutions to take
accurate and timely decisions. All Sri Lankan universities are now
teaching GIS Technology, while some have commenced MSc courses in
Geomatics. These graduates use GIS Analysis to determine areas best for
agriculture, plan roads and infrastructure and help mitigate natural
disasters. With Esri, they will be able to solve problems and take

Asian Paints focuses on exteriors with colourful new Combinations
Guide
The use of colour on the exteriors of buildings to express
personality has been made easier by Asian Paints (Lanka) Limited, with
the launch of a new colour guide designed exclusively for the purpose.
Titled 'Imagine Exteriors,' the new guide presents 60 selected colour
combinations in the form of images of exteriors of homes instead of the
customary shade card, making visualisation and decision making more
interesting.
Designed to showcase the company's 'Apex Ultima' weather-proof
exterior emulsion, the new guide in the handy size of a 'monitor's'
exercise book, is a sequel to the hugely popular Asian Paints
combinations guide for interiors released by the company in June last
year.
Joseph L. Pulikottil, Asian Paints' Director/General Manager in Sri
Lanka said: "Using this new guide makes the process of choosing colours
fun. A user simply picks his or her favourite colour and turn to that
section to see the different possible combinations."
The new guide is divided in to five sections, featuring different
colour families -- Red, Yellow-Beige, Green, Blue and White.
It illustrates several eye-catching combinations for each colour
family with each combination comprising of two to four shades. High
quality photographs of exteriors of actual houses painted in the
respective combinations, gives the user a realistic visual of the effect
of the combination.
The company says the colours used in this guide were selected by
architects and designers to ensure that they suit different
architectural styles.
The guide also provides information on Asian Paints' full exterior
products range -- Apex Ultima, Apex, ACE, Exterior Sealers, AP SEAL -
WB, AP SEAL SB, AP Wall Fill and exterior wall putty.
All emulsion paints referred to in the guide are available through
Asian Paints' ColourWorld outlets, the only fully automated paint
dispensing platform in Sri Lanka.
These outlets offer a large range of shades and provide customers a
choice of multiple brands from a single dispenser. |
