Nilusha Ranasinghe new Market Head for ACCA

ACCA announced the appointment of Ms. Nilusha Ranasinghe as the Market Head for Sri Lanka and Maldives following the resignation of Ms. Aruni Rajakarier.

"ACCA is poised for accelerated growth in Sri Lanka and the Maldives on the work done not just by ACCA, but our members, learning providers and other stakeholders in the last few years. Awareness of the brand has grown significantly and our members and students are sought after in both the corporate and public sectors for their skills and knowledge. ACCA has been at the forefront of developing the accountancy profession globally and in the region and is now engaged in contributing further to the accountancy education in the country. I am happy to leave ACCA in a position of strength in the capable hands of my colleague Nilusha Ranasinghe," stated the outgoing Country Manager Mrs. Aruni Rajakarier.

Endorsing this statement, Lucia Real-Martin, Director Emerging Markets Asia affirmed. "We are delighted to welcome Nilusha Ranasinghe as Sri Lanka's Market Head. I am confident under Nilusha's leadership ACCA in Sri Lanka will achieve even greater success, underpinned by her competence, experience and commitment to ACCA. I believe that Nilusha's skills and expertise, as well as that of her team, is precisely what ACCA needs in Sri Lanka at this new phase of development, to build upon the quality growth already achieved in this important market for ACCA."

Nilusha Ranasinghe is an Attorney-at-Law by profession and she started her Career as a legal counsel. She thereafter joined the NDB Bank, where she was seconded to NDB Housing Bank to set up their Licensed Specialized Bank operation. As the Market Head, Ms Ranasinghe will be responsible for managing the day to day operations and driving the ACCA brand in both Sri Lanka and Maldives and strengthening relationships and further ties with the local ACCA tuition providers, as well as identifying and seizing new market opportunities.

Commenting on her new appointment, Ms. Nilusha Ranasinghe said, "I am delighted to be a part of such a highly reputable organization known for its dynamism and effectiveness and I am looking forward to making a contribution at an institution that I have been part of for five years and continue to admire. Sri Lanka and Maldives remain important markets for ACCA and are countries which we see as having significant growth potential and I look forward to enhancing ACCA's reputation in both these countries."

"I will be looking to build on the significant growth in student numbers and members we have achieved in recent years and to build closer, valuable business relationships with key employers throughout the country." Also welcoming the appointment was Ms. Nisreen Rehmanjee, President for ACCA Sri Lanka, who said "Nilusha joins us at an exciting time of change for ACCA and she will play an important role to help formulate and progress the exciting plans which we have for ACCA Sri Lanka in the coming year".
