Gold found by Police in the walls of suspect’s residence

Police yesterday informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmie Singappuli yesterday that several pieces of gold were found at the Kadawatha residence of a suspect taken into custody by the Kollupitiya Police.

Police further said investigations are being conducted to ascertain whether the gold retrieved between two walls of the suspects house came from the gold artifacts recently stolen from the museum .

For this purpose, the gold pieces are to be forwarded to the National Gem and Jewellery Authority.

Besides the suspect under interrogation had revealed that he had sold some gold pieces to buyers at Chetty Street and in Ambalangoda. Further hearing was postponed for July 16.
