Disaster Management Ministry helps in anti- dengue drive

The Disaster Management Ministry will deploy all its physical and
human resources towards dengue mitigation activities during the National
Dengue Control Month which commenced on June 25.
The ministry has deployed physical and human resources in disaster
management units islandwide in the dengue mitigation activities on the
direction of Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.
There are 25 disaster management units in the country and they will
support in the dengue eradication drive.
"Not only in the national dengue control month,we are always ready to
lend our assistance every time the country needs our assistance,"
Minister Amaraweera said.
The minister said he has informed Health Minister Maithripala
Sirisena that they are ready to provide assistance in the dengue
mitigation effort.
Minister Amaraweera said he opted to help since dengue has become a
national issue adding all should take part in the dengue eradication
programme.
"This is the only way Sri Lanka can control epidemics spread through
mosquitoes," he said. |
