Police find seven-year-old girl’s body

The police found the body of a girl aged seven yesterday morning, in a canal in Narahenpita.

The Sri Lankan Naval troops removed the body from the canal on the request of Kirulapana police .

Kirulapana Police commenced investigations on a complaint by the parents of Krishna Kumar Dushanthani who was missing when they returned home after participating in a function on Saturday night.

The police found the girl's body on a tip-off, and arrested two suspects living near the girl's home. The suspects are two youths 16 and 18 years.

Police said the body had been thrown into the canal after being raped.

Kirulapana Police are investigating.
