Another stock of banned substance found at BIA
The Customs Narcotics Control Unit seized 123
kilogrammes of banned tobacco based intoxicants worth over Rs 1.2
million at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday. This is
the second time in a week sleuths seized such banned substances at
the airport. Sleuths seized 75 kgs of tobacco based intoxicant Babul
Hans at the BIA last Sunday.

SLN arrests illegal asylum-seekers
The Navy intercepted a multi-day fishing trawler
bound for Australia in the seas off Negombo on Friday . Nine Sri
Lankans were on board intending to enter Australia illegally, they
said. Initial investigations by the Navy revealed that more persons
were to join at different locations.

Indians held with illegal drugs
Sri Lanka Navy arrested four Indians attempting
to smuggle illegal inhaling drugs from Rameshwaram, disguised as
fishermen in the seas south of Mannar on June 30. Naval personnel
attached to the North-western Naval Command conducted the raid and
arrested the Indian Dhow named “Pradishwaram” bearing registration
number TN/10WV169,with fishing nets.
