Rs 5,000 counterfeit note detected

Bakamuna Police arrested a man who purchased a phone card by producing a Rs 5,000 counterfeit note in Atharagallawa, Bakamuna on Saturday. The suspect was arrested following a complaint by the shop keeper.

The suspect was to be produced before the Hingurakkgoda magistrate yesterday.

Meanwhile, Kandy magistrate remanded another suspect who tried to deposit a Rs 5,000 counterfeit note at the Bank of Ceylon, Kandy main branch.

Kandy Police are investigating.
