Monkeys threaten residents and crops

Residents in Hali Ela, Passara, Badulla and Ella divisions lament that the teeming monkeys are a threat to cultivation and a menace to their homes. This was discussed at the District Agriculture Committee monthly meetings held at the Badulla GA's office.

The monkeys captured previously and released into Maduruwawewa reservoir have strayed into neighbouring villages destructing cultivation.

It has triggered a mass protest by villagers, Wildlife Conservation Assistant Director said.
