Doctor vacancies in North to be filled - Governor

All doctor vacancies in Northern Provincial hospitals and medical centres are to be filled by July end, Northern Provincial Governor Maj. Gen. G.A. Chandrasiri said.

“The 128 doctor vacancies in hospitals and medical centres in the Northern Province will be filled soon, “ he said.

“A number of doctors have sent their applications while some have requested for transfers to Northern hospitals”,” he added.

“Most infrastructure facilities for doctors like living quarters in Jaffna, Mullativu, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mannar have already been completed and will be provided to the newly appointed doctors on the recommendations of the Government Medial Officers Association (GMOA), “he said.

'This programme is being implemented to strengthen the medical service in the Northern Province.

'There are sufficient numbers of consultant doctors already stationed in Northern Provincial hospitals and governmentmedical centres and more doctors will be assigned under this programme,” Governor Chandrasiri said.
